I wish the circumstances were better...

Well I'm back, but perhaps it's not under the best of circumstances. As echoed on the Beast's site, one of my former bosses and colleagues died suddenly last week. As much as we knew he had been ill lately, it was a bit of a shock to find out how ill. He was a partner in crime for some of us in the office, a good pub mate, and someone who looked out for the little guy - well, most of the time :-)
At a time like this, you always reflect on events leading up to the present. Did you say "hello" the last time you saw him? Did you ask how he was doing? Or were you too wrapped up in your own world - too "busy" apparently to blog, talk, or care - to say anything at all until it was too late?
These are the questions that haunt you.
It's important at a time such as this to remember that there isn't much you can or could have done - the important part of life is to live in the present; don't get caught up in work; and that the most important part of your life isn't what you do, it's who you talk to, keep in touch with, and maintain friendships with. Drink with your friends, always make time for everyone in your life, hold on to loved ones, and remember and salute the past and those in it. As echoed by the Beast, there are drinks to his honor in the future.
That is the key to life - live life to the fullest, and remember... always.
Natemare out.
